US Economic Blockade on Iran Begins to Take Hold
The economic blockade imposed by the US on Iran is showing signs of success, according to a recent discussion on Tony Katz Today. Retired Army Major Mike Lyons pointed out that despite reports suggesting otherwise, the US has managed to maintain a steady flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, with tankers successfully avoiding Iranian coastal batteries and moving at approximately 80% of pre-war volumes.
Lyons stated that Iran's military options are severely limited, with no smart missiles, functioning radar, or rockets capable of reaching the tankers. Even new threats to strike targets in Europe are seen as desperation moves by a regime that has lost its intimidation factor.
Critics of President Trump's Iran strategy have been criticized for downplaying the blockade's effectiveness and overstating its limitations. Lyons stated that this is due to the fact that Iran was never part of the international community, and that the US is simply taking steps to protect itself and its allies from a regime bent on destruction.
The discussion also touched on reports of 'deplorable conditions' aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, which was deployed for over 270 days in the Iran fight. Lyons dismissed these claims as manufactured outrage, noting that sailors are not eating combat MREs but rather 'B rations', and have access to onboard desalinization and routine resupply.
