US Energy Imports Surge as India Diversifies Amid West Asian Disruptions
India has significantly increased its imports of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States due to supply disruptions in West Asia.
Data from maritime intelligence firm Kpler shows that US supplies accounted for over 73% of India's LPG imports in August, with around 0.62 million tonnes imported.
This shift has come at a cost, however, with longer shipping routes and higher freight and insurance expenses increasing the country's energy import bill.
