US Ethanol Exports Soar Amid Global Demand
American ethanol exports are expected to reach record highs for the third consecutive year. The U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council's CEO, Ryan LeGrand, predicts that exports will increase by nearly 10% and surpass 2.3 billion gallons.
The growing demand is driven in part by countries like Japan and Mexico, which could double U.S. ethanol exports. Japan has pledged to transition to E10 blends by 2030, with trials starting in Okinawa in 2028. LeGrand estimates that this will create a one-billion-gallon market.
The industry is also seeing opportunities in emerging biofuel markets such as marine and aviation. However, trade challenges persist, particularly in countries like South Korea, which has been slow to adopt ethanol fuel standards.
