US Exporters Plug Qatar-Sized LNG Supply Hole with Record Volumes
US LNG exporters have filled the supply gap left by Qatar's reduced exports following attacks on its facilities and shipping lane closures, ensuring global supplies remain at record highs.
The damage to Qatar's export sites has been estimated at up to 17% of its total capacity for five years, according to QatarEnergy's CEO.
US exporters have increased their liquefaction capacity and vessel loading schedules to compensate, loading a record 32.15 million metric tons of LNG during the first four months of 2026, a 28% increase from the same period in 2025.
The US is now accounting for a record 18% of global seaborne LNG export volumes, which are set to hit a fresh high of just over 149 million tons for January to April.
