US Fires on Iranian Oil Tanker in Gulf of Oman Showdown
A U.S. warship has fired on and disabled an Iranian oil tanker attempting to breach the maritime blockade in the Gulf of Oman, just outside the Strait of Hormuz.
The incident marks the second time a vessel has been blocked since the U.S. military resumed its maritime blockade on the 15th of this month in response to Iran's re-blockading of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), warnings were issued to the crew but they were ignored before the tanker was stopped.
