US Foils Iranian Missile Barrage, Strikes Iraq-Based Militias with Saudi Arabia
The US military has intercepted an Iranian missile barrage and launched strikes in Iraq against militias backed by Tehran. The strikes come as tensions between the US and Iran remain high, with both countries trading blows over the past few weeks.
The US Central Command said that all Iranian missiles launched against American forces in the Middle East were intercepted, and that they 'remain vigilant and at a high state of readiness.'
The strikes targeted multiple sites in eastern Iraq used by Iran-backed militias to launch attacks on Saudi Arabia's energy infrastructure. The US warned that further attacks on American troops or Saudi Arabia's energy infrastructure risked additional action.
