US Forces Clear Strait of Hormuz from Iranian Mines Amid Ongoing Blockade
US forces have successfully cleared naval mines from international navigation lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, according to CENTCOM. The US military operation has removed approximately 50,000 Iranian Revolutionary Guard laid mines.
The operation is part of a broader strategy by Washington to ensure navigation security and prevent threats to global energy supplies. Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, confirmed that about 1,500 commercial vessels have passed through the strait safely over the past few months, carrying an estimated 750 million barrels of crude oil.
The US Navy has intercepted and forced 75 commercial vessels to return after attempting to breach the blockade. The military operation is supported by advanced warships, hundreds of fighter jets, and unmanned reconnaissance aircraft that operate around the clock to monitor all naval movements in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
