US Forces Sink One of Three Iranian Oil Tankers Targeted in September Strike
US naval forces sank one of three Iranian oil tankers targeted in strikes on September 5, according to officials. The M/T Kylo was heavily damaged and partially submerged before sinking, as shown in footage released by US Central Command (CENTCOM).
CENTCOM stated that the Kylo was among the three Iranian vessels targeted after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched ballistic missiles toward a US aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer.
Both warships evaded the attacks, with no American personnel harmed, CENTCOM reported. The crew of the M/T Kylo was directed to abandon ship before it was struck in multiple locations.
