The national average gas price fell by three cents to $4.06 per gallon this past week, following a trend of declining prices amidst lower crude oil costs.

California's average gas price dropped two cents to $5.62 per gallon, still significantly higher than the national average but part of the broader downward trend.

The decline in gas prices is attributed to decreased demand and increased supply, with the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reporting that total domestic gasoline supply decreased from 211.3 million barrels to 209.7 million last week.
