US Gas Prices Hit Record High in September Amid Refinery Capacity Constraints
US gasoline prices have reached a record high for September, according to reports. The national average is $4.22 per gallon for regular gasoline and $5.94 per gallon for diesel. Analysts predict that diesel prices could soon reach $6 per gallon.
The sharp increase in gas prices is attributed to tight refinery capacity and energy bottlenecks tied to the US-Iran conflict, which has caused Brent crude to surge above $100 a barrel. Andy Lipow, president of Lipow Oil Associates, stated, 'Gasoline prices in the USA are the highest ever for this time of year.'
The West Coast is being particularly affected by high gas prices due to limited refining capacity and high taxes. In California, diesel prices have reached nearly $8 per gallon, with some cities averaging almost $9.50.
