US Gas Prices Remain Unchanged at $4.09 Amid Elevated Crude Oil Costs

The national average price of regular gasoline in the US remains unchanged at $4.09 per gallon, according to data from AAA. This is the same as last week's price and nearly a dollar higher than it was this time last year.

The current crude oil prices are also stable, ranging between $80 per barrel due to lingering instability along the Strait of Hormuz. Typically, August brings some relief at the pump as road trips wind down and fall routines begin for many families, but elevated crude oil prices may prevent this seasonal shift from occurring.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that gasoline demand increased last week from 8.94 million to 9.04 million barrels per day, while total domestic gasoline supply remained flat at 211.3 million barrels.
