US Gas Prices Surge as Tensions with Iran Escalate
The national average price of regular gas in the US has risen to $4.28 per gallon, up 6 cents in 24 hours and 13 cents over the past two days, according to AAA.
This marks a $1.08 increase from what drivers were paying a year ago, as tensions between the US and Iran escalate, further straining global oil supplies.
California has the highest average regular-gas price at $5.89 per gallon, while Indiana has the lowest at $3.56, according to AAA.
The war between the US and Iran has led to several attacks on Iranian oil tankers, as well as a US base in Jordan, further squeezing the market.
