US Gas Prices Top $4 a Gallon Amid Global Refinery Capacity Shortages

Gas prices have surged above $4 per gallon in the US, causing financial strain for drivers. According to AAA, the national average is now at $4.19 per gallon, while Kentucky's average sits at $3.84 per gallon.

Lori Weaver Hawkins, AAA Government Affairs Manager, attributes the increase to global factors such as geopolitical instability and a refinery capacity shortage.

Crude oil prices are also a key driver of the surge, trading near $100 a barrel - a sharp increase from last year's average of around $63 a barrel.
