US Grains Council Sees Surge in Trade Activity Under New Chairman

Jay Reiners has been elected as the new chairman of the U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council, bringing his experience in international issues to the role. After 35 years on his central Nebraska farm, Reiners stepped away from day-to-day farming to focus on trade opportunities.

The council's agenda is packed due to the administration's emphasis on trade, with Reiners citing that 'now everyone's, I mean, yes, they did a lot of legwork talking trading all that stuff, but now the administration is actually pushing it.' This has led to an increase in activity for the council's overseas offices.

Reiners' theme for the year is 'Feeding and Fueling the World', highlighting the importance of understanding the end users of U.S. corn, ethanol, DDGs, sorghum, and barley. He notes that farmers often get caught up in their daily grind and forget about the international customers who appreciate American farming.
