US-Iran Conflict Escalates in Red Sea Amid Ongoing Talks

The conflict between the US and Iran appears to be escalating in the Red Sea, despite a pause in US strikes. Over the weekend, Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis attacked Saudi oil installations along the Red Sea coast, resulting in potential damage to fuel and oil storage sites at Jizan.

Iran has accused Ukraine of targeting one of its vessels in the Caspian Sea, with one sailor killed and another injured. The US military has said its naval blockade against Iran remains in full effect, but did not explain why it halted a streak of 13 nights of escalating strikes.

The US Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, stated that talks between the two countries are ongoing, with internal fighting on the Iranian side making progress difficult. Iran has indicated that it will halt its own attacks as long as the US maintains its pause on strikes, but remains skeptical of US intentions.
