The US-Iran conflict escalated on Sunday after Iran retaliated against US forces for striking two Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island. The attack was in response to Washington's efforts to clear sea mines from international shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor.

Iran launched missile and drone strikes on two US air bases in Jordan as part of its retaliation. According to reports, Jordanian authorities intercepted and destroyed eight missiles that entered the country's airspace, with no reported casualties or property damage.

The Strait of Hormuz is a major concern for global markets, with roughly one-fifth of the world's oil shipments passing through it. The Donald Trump administration has warned that any vessel laying new mines in the waterway would be 'immediately and systematically destroyed.'
