The US military launched airstrikes on Iran's Larak Island on August 30, targeting rocket launchers allegedly preparing to deploy sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

The strikes marked the first American military action on Iranian soil since late July and broke a relative lull in the six-month-long conflict.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had promised a 'decisive response,' and Tehran delivered, firing missiles and drones at US bases in Jordan within hours of the initial attack.

Jordanian air defenses intercepted eight missiles during the exchange, but Iranian officials claimed significant damage was inflicted on US infrastructure at the targeted bases.
