US-Iran Conflict Sparks Flight Disruptions and Soaring Oil Prices in UAE
UAE residents are facing continued flight disruptions and rising oil prices due to ongoing tensions in the region. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy corridor, remains closed as Iran demands broader concessions from the US before allowing it to reopen.
The uncertainty over when or if the strait will fully reopen has led to a surge in oil prices, with Brent crude reaching $84.46 a barrel on Monday. This is up 91 cents from previous levels, and US crude rose 61 cents.
UAE-linked shipping has already been affected, with reports indicating that 15 vessels linked to ADNOC had been attacked while transiting Hormuz since the conflict began.
The crisis is also affecting air travel, with Emirates, Etihad, flydubai, and Air Arabia services facing cancellations or delays amid regional security concerns. Passengers are advised to check flight status directly with airlines before leaving for the airport.
