US-Iran Diplomacy Pushes Brent Crude Below $82 Per Barrel

Nigerian crude oil prices fell on Monday after diplomatic talks between the United States and Iran eased concerns over possible disruptions to global oil shipments.

The renewed engagement led to a sharp decline in Brent crude futures, which dropped about seven percent to $82 per barrel. This prompted traders to unwind the geopolitical risk premium that had pushed crude prices higher in recent months.

Nigerian crude, which had traded above $85 per barrel amid heightened tensions, was also affected by the development. With prospects of diplomatic progress improving, expectations of uninterrupted oil flows through the Persian Gulf weakened demand for alternative cargoes and weighed on prices.
