Oil prices continued their downward trend on Wednesday as market participants priced in renewed US-Iran talks and a pause in US attacks against Iran, reducing the geopolitical risk premium in crude markets.

Brent crude futures for October traded at $79.29 per barrel, down from the previous close of $80.36, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures traded at $75.40 per barrel, down 0.5% from $75.77 in the previous session.

The optimism in the market grew after US President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran were advancing and suggested the Strait of Hormuz could reopen soon.

Trump stated that there was an 'all-day negotiation' on Tuesday, adding 'they had an all-day negotiation today, and it looks like things are very good.'
