US-Iran Tensions Ease Slightly as Oil Prices Fall
Oil prices fell for a second consecutive day on Tuesday, helping to ease concerns in the bond market and support stock prices. The price of Brent crude dropped 3.1% to $87.74. This decline is significant, as it follows 13 gains in 14 days.
The drop in oil prices came despite heightened tensions between the US and Iran, with the Trump administration announcing new sanctions aimed at further hurting Iran's economy.
However, a delegation from Pakistan had positive talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and reviving negotiations to end the conflict. This development may have contributed to the decline in oil prices.
