US-Iran Tensions Send Oil Prices Soaring Past $90 Mark
Oil prices surged on Friday, surpassing $90 per barrel for the first time in a month, as tensions between the US and Iran escalated. The rise was attributed to disruptions in oil tanker movements caused by the renewed military exchanges between the two nations.
The price of Brent crude, an international benchmark for seaborne oil, jumped nearly 3% to around $90.69 per barrel. Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) saw a 2.4% increase to approximately $85.42 per barrel.
Market analysts warn that further developments in the US-Iran conflict could lead to increased volatility in the oil market. Key players such as the Secretary General of OPEC and the Saudi Minister of Energy may play crucial roles in stabilizing the market, particularly if they issue statements or implement strategies to address supply disruptions.
