US-Iran Tensions Send Oil Prices Soaring, Weighing on Wall Street
Wall Street's main indexes opened lower on Monday following military strikes between the US and Iran that drove up oil prices.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 97.4 points, or 0.18 percent, to open at 53,462.6. The S&P 500 dropped 14.2 points, or 0.18 percent, to 7,697.52, while the Nasdaq Composite fell 43.9 points, or 0.17 percent, to 26,358.55.
The increase in oil prices has fanned inflation worries and led to a more hawkish interest-rate outlook, affecting Wall Street's performance.
