US Launched Economic Campaign 'Operation Economic Outcast' Against Iran
The United States has launched a sweeping economic campaign against Iran, dubbed 'Operation Economic Outcast.' The operation aims to isolate Iran from global financial networks and impose sanctions on entities linked to its nuclear, missile, and oil sectors.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the measures, stating that President Donald Trump directed the effort. The campaign targets five key sectors: digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and maritime shipping.
The Treasury Department has suspended general licenses allowing certain financial transfers to Iran and imposed sanctions on 60 entities, individuals, and vessels linked to these sectors. Bessent warned countries facilitating Iranian oil smuggling or allowing their banks to serve Iran that they could face US action.
Bessent emphasized that no one is beyond the reach of US sanctions, stating that 'Washington will give affected countries deadlines to halt specified activities.' He also mentioned that a major financial institution would be sanctioned by the end of the week over its dealings with Tehran.
