US LNG Exports Reach Record High as New Terminals Boost Capacity
US liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports have surged by 23% in the first half of 2026, reaching a record high of 17.4 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d).
This increase is attributed to new LNG terminals coming online, including Venture Global's Plaquemines LNG and Cheniere Energy's Corpus Christi Stage 3, which has reached substantial completion.
The expansion adds more than 10 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of export capacity, bringing Cheniere's total Gulf Coast capacity to approximately 56 mtpa.
Golden Pass LNG at Sabine Pass, Texas, achieved first LNG production from Train 1 in March and shipped its first cargo in April. It is expected to reach full capacity by the end of the year.
