US LNG Exports Slide as Asia Sees Record Shipments Amid Price Premium
US liquefied natural gas exports declined to 10.2 million metric tons in May, a decrease from previous months due to seasonal maintenance.
The reduction was caused by planned outages at several export plants, where operators carried out spring maintenance after delaying work earlier in the year to maximize shipments to Asia.
Cheniere Energy and some US exporters had postponed maintenance in March to capture strong demand amid supply disruptions linked to reduced Qatari supplies.
Despite lower overall exports, Asian spot LNG prices remained elevated, averaging $17.75 per million British thermal units, a 10% premium over Europe's TTF benchmark.
