US Military Aids in Record Oil Shipments Through Hornuz Amid Tehran Tensions
More than 15 million barrels of oil and petroleum products were transported through the Strait of Hormuz, thanks in part to the US military's efforts to maintain flow. According to US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, the seven-day average of oil leaving the strait had risen above 8 million barrels a day.
The shipment total is approaching 20 million barrels, with the US Navy providing critical support. Wright credited the military for keeping energy supplies moving despite the ongoing standoff between Washington and Tehran.
The price of Brent crude has surged 6.6% over the week, ending at around $94.39 a barrel. However, traders remain concerned that current flows depend heavily on military support and could be vulnerable to renewed escalation.
