US Military Operation Sends Crude Oil Prices Soaring Amid Escalating Tensions
The recent American military operation targeting Iranian rocket launching systems on Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz has sent shockwaves through energy markets, causing crude oil prices to surge. The U.S. military forces conducted precision strikes against two Iranian launchers situated on Larak Island, which lies in proximity to the critical waterway.
According to an American defense official, Iranian Revolutionary Guard personnel were actively preparing to deploy rockets loaded with maritime mines into the Strait of Hormuz prior to the operation. Brent crude futures for November settlement jumped 2.5% to reach $90.28 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate advanced 2.2% to settle at $85.24 per barrel.
Tehran responded to the Larak Island operation with a missile strike against American military installations in Jordan, but air defense systems successfully neutralized virtually all incoming projectiles. Approximately 6-8 million barrels of oil continue flowing through the Strait of Hormuz despite escalating tensions.
