The recent oil pollution in the Persian Gulf around Qeshm Island is linked to US military presence in the region, causing devastation to public and marine lives.

Investigations by Iranian officials indicate that the contamination has no connection to Iran's oil production or transportation processes.

Rather, it stems from foreign military aggressions in the area, according to Mehr news agency.

The head of the Department of Environment (DOE), Shina Ansari, said the pollution is just one example of widespread pollution that has destroyed the region's marine ecosystem over the past few decades.
