US Military Strikes Five Iranian Oil Tankers Linked to IRGC
The US military has taken action against Iranian oil tankers in response to attempted missile launches at US Navy warships. The strikes targeted five vessels linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the Gulf of Oman and near Kharg Island.
The US Central Command (Centcom) announced that the IRGC's crude oil carriers M/T Kaviz, M/T Charminar, M/T Horizon 1, and M/T Riesco were disabled in the Gulf of Oman, along with M/T Derya near Kharg Island.
No US personnel were harmed in the attacks, according to Centcom. The IRGC has used these tankers as part of a multibillion-dollar shadow network that funds the group and its regional proxies, but Iran has no means by which to defend them, Centcom stated.
