US Military Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Conflict
US military forces struck three Iranian oil tankers on Saturday, warning that they would 'if necessary, destroy Iran's limited and exposed oil fleet'.
The strikes came a day after US President Donald Trump downplayed the conflict as 'small potatoes', but the situation escalated with new attacks in the region.
An American aircraft carrier and destroyer evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks while patrolling in the area, according to the military's statement. No US personnel were hurt.
The US said that two Iranian oil carriers were 'permanently disabled', and a third, unladen tanker was destroyed. The tankers were part of a shadow network helping to fund Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard and its armed proxies in the region.
