US Military Strikes Three Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Tensions
The United States military has confirmed that it struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to an attack by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The incident occurred on Saturday, with CENTCOM stating that a US aircraft carrier and guided missile destroyer evaded multiple attacks by the IRGC.
No American personnel were harmed in the exchange, but the US forces did retaliate by permanently disabling two crude oil carriers. The M/T Downy was struck off the coast of Kharg Island, while the M/T Stark 1 was targeted near Jask.
The third vessel to be destroyed was the M/T Kylo, which was located in the Gulf of Oman. According to CENTCOM, the Kylo was not carrying oil at the time and its crew was ordered to abandon ship before the strike occurred.
