US Missile Strike Targets Iranian Tanker Near Kharg Island
A US missile strike on an Iranian tanker near Kharg Island has raised concerns about an escalation in the conflict between Tehran and Washington.
The semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that four U.S. missiles hit the tanker, which was anchored about six miles from the coast of Kharg Island, a strategically important part of Iran's energy infrastructure.
Kharg Island is home to Iran's main crude oil export terminal and accounts for 90% of the country's crude exports.
The incident comes as tensions between the US and Iran have been escalating since the US imposed a naval blockade on Iranian oil exports in mid-April.
