US Natural Gas Prices Hold Ground Amid Oversupply Concerns
Natural gas prices are hovering above the $2.50 area, but analysts believe this is only temporary as the market searches for its winter base.
The October contract is currently in play, and a couple of weeks from now, the November contract will take over, signaling the approach of colder weather in the United States.
Despite being 5% above the 5-year moving average of natural gas storage, the country remains oversupplied. This is not unexpected, given that most demand comes from air conditioning during the summer months.
However, disruptions in Middle Eastern natural gas supplies could lead to increased demand for US imports, potentially driving prices higher.
The market is currently building a base for a potential price increase this winter. However, it's still early days, and analysts caution that we haven't yet reached the point of peak demand.
