US Naval Blockade Cracks Iran's Oil Export Pipeline
A US naval blockade has successfully cut off Iran's oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing conflict. For the first time on record, Iran has gone about seven weeks without shipping meaningful crude exports through the strategic waterway.
The blockade, which began in August, has dealt a major blow to Iran's economy, which relies heavily on oil exports as its main source of foreign-currency earnings.
According to Reuters, the US naval presence in the region has disrupted Iranian shipping operations, with several tankers being intercepted and inspected by US Navy vessels.
