US Naval Blockade Halts Iran Oil Exports
The US naval blockade has effectively stalled Iran's oil exports, according to reports from shipping and satellite data providers. No tankers have loaded at Kharg Island, Iran's main oil export terminal, for at least a week.
Kharg Island is critical to Iran's oil industry, with nearly 90% of the country's crude exports shipped from there. The island fell idle on July 31, and satellite imagery showed that all three loading berths remained vacant for an extended period.
Richard Bronze, head of geopolitics at Energy Aspects, stated, 'The blockade is effective, in the sense that there is not a lot of tanker movement in or out.' However, he noted that the interruption to exports may not force Tehran into making quick concessions in discussions with Washington.
