US Navy Keeps Oil Flowing Through Hormuz Amid Ongoing Tensions
The US military played a key role in moving over 15 million barrels of oil and petroleum products through the Strait of Hormuz last Tuesday, amidst ongoing tensions with Iran. According to US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, the seven-day average of oil leaving the strait had risen above 8 million barrels per day.
In a post on X, Wright credited the US Navy for maintaining the flow of oil through the critical energy chokepoint. He emphasized that 'Make no mistake, thanks to the U.S. Navy, oil is flowing through the Strait of Hormuz.'
The total shipments leaving the region, including volumes transported through pipelines, approached 20 million barrels.
The efforts come as diplomatic attempts to resolve the standoff between Washington and Tehran remain stalled. The US has increased economic pressure on Iran, while Tehran maintains it wants an agreement but rejects certain terms as unacceptable.
