US Oil Production Continues to Dominate Global Markets
The United States solidified its position as the world's largest crude oil producer in 2025, according to recent data. The country produced a record-high 13.6 million barrels per day (bpd), surpassing Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Canada by a wide margin.
This trend began in 2018 and reflects a significant turnaround from past decades. The growth in production is attributed to increased drilling productivity and operational efficiency, allowing operators to extract more oil per well.
The Permian Basin of Texas and New Mexico was a major contributor to the country's oil production, accounting for about 48% of total domestic production in 2025.
