US Opens Secret Oil Shipping Corridor Through Strait of Hormuz
The US military has established a secret oil shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz to transport millions of barrels of crude oil daily. The operation, which started several weeks ago, is part of a larger effort to mitigate the impact of the conflict with Iran on global energy markets.
According to US officials, approximately 10 million barrels of oil per day are being moved out of the Gulf into international markets through the southern channel along the Omani coastline. The corridor is used by around 15-20 tankers every night, escorted by American military personnel.
The operation is handled by a US task force operating out of Army headquarters at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in collaboration with regional Gulf partners. The US Air Force also provides air defense coverage against potential Iranian drone and cruise missile strikes.
US officials claim that the maritime corridor was made viable following a recent two-week campaign by US Central Command that degraded Iran's radar capabilities and maritime surveillance infrastructure.
