US Resumes Airstrikes in Iran Amid Escalating Regional Tensions
The US has resumed airstrikes in Iran after a six-day pause following a reported Iranian missile attack on American forces in Jordan. The US Central Command stated that dozens of targets were hit, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, and coastal surveillance and defense sites.
In addition to the strikes inside Iran, the US, along with Saudi Arabia, also attacked the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU) in Iraq. At least 20 troops and six Iranian advisors were killed, while 32 troops were injured.
The global price of Brent crude oil surged by 7.3% to over $88 a barrel following the attacks. It continued to rise on Thursday, reaching $91.89 per barrel.
