US Resumes Airstrikes on Iran Amid Rising Oil Prices
The US military has resumed airstrikes on Iran following six days of halted attacks. This move comes in retaliation for Iran's surprise attack on US bases in the Middle East. As tensions rise, international oil prices have climbed back above $90 per barrel.
The price of Brent Crude Oil futures for September delivery on the ICE Futures Exchange closed at $90.74 per barrel, up 7.9% from the previous session. This is the first time in five days that Brent Crude Oil has closed above $90.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on social media platform X that the US military began airstrikes against Iran at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, targeting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) military command center and missile and drone facilities.
