Crude oil futures rose on Tuesday as markets assessed the impact of US sanctions against Iran. The Brent crude oil futures contract for November traded at $90.71, a 0.19% increase from the previous day. Meanwhile, October's West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures contract was up by 0.29% to $85.26.

The US Treasury Department announced new sanctions on 60 individuals and entities, but surprisingly did not include any Chinese financial institutions suspected of facilitating oil trade with Iran. However, the list of targets remains unclear, leaving markets waiting for further details on a possible timeline for trading partners to cut ties with Iran.

Warren Patterson, Head of Commodities Strategy at ING Think, and Ewa Manthey, Commodities Strategist, noted that the market seems unfazed by Washington's push for tighter economic pressure on Iran. They attributed this to traders treating the US effort as marginal rather than market-moving.
