US-Saudi Strike Hits Iran-Backed Militias in Iraq
Saudi Arabia has joined forces with the US to strike back at Iran-backed militias in Iraq. The latest move comes after drones launched by Tehran-backed groups targeted Saudi oil facilities for a second consecutive day, prompting an intercept by Saudi air defenses.
The US and Saudi Arabia then jointly hit weapons and other sites belonging to 'Iran-aligned terrorists' in Iraq, according to the American military. This marked a significant escalation of tensions between Iran and its regional adversaries.
Col. Wayne Sanders (Ret.) of Bloomberg Intelligence noted that Saudi Arabia's involvement in the strikes highlights the growing complexity of the conflict.
