US-Saudi Strikes Hit Iraqi Militias as Iran Fires Missiles at Jordan
The US and Saudi Arabia launched joint strikes on Wednesday against Iranian-backed militias in eastern Iraq, targeting sites used for drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities. The strikes came hours after a US military spokesperson said their air defenses had intercepted an attempted Iranian attack on American troops in the region.
The Jordanian military also reported that it shot down five Iranian missiles directed at the kingdom, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have fired ballistic missiles at US forces in Jordan. The IRGC vowed to continue its 'resistance' until US actions against Iran's interests cease.
A senior Iranian official denied any connection between projectiles launched from other countries toward Saudi targets, calling it a 'major miscalculation' to attribute these attacks to Iran.
