The United States has expressed interest in expanding cooperation in Bangladesh's liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sectors.

A meeting between Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood and Eric Geelan, political and economic counsellor at the US Embassy, was held to discuss greater US investment in the energy sector. The two sides discussed expanding cooperation in the LNG and LPG sectors, increasing the participation of US companies in Bangladesh's energy market, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and strengthening government-to-government collaboration.

The discussions also focused on encouraging greater participation of US companies in Bangladesh's energy sector and strengthening G2G cooperation. The minister requested that discussions with relevant stakeholders be arranged as soon as possible to move the cooperation process forward, and Geelan thanked the minister for the meeting, reiterating the US Embassy's interest in supporting the development of Bangladesh's energy sector.
