US Slaps Sanctions on Eight Tankers and Ten Iran-Linked Entities
The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on eight tankers and ten Iran-linked entities. The move targets various sectors, including shipping, vessel management, freight, and maritime insurance. The affected entities are registered in Iran, Hong Kong, and the Marshall Islands.
The sanctions block property held in the United States or controlled by US persons and prohibit transactions involving those sanctioned. This means that any assets or funds belonging to these entities within the US are now frozen.
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, has previously described US restrictions on Iranian oil trade as 'illegal', accusing Washington of obstructing Tehran's legitimate commerce with its economic partners.
