Soybean and corn futures rose modestly on technical buying and short covering as traders looked to favorable development weather, but ultimately found support in higher crude oil prices.

The US Department of Agriculture reported that China bought another 122,000 tons of 2026/27 US soybeans ahead of the open, with new crop sales totaling 33.2 million bushels, led by unknown destinations and China.

New crop corn sales were also up on the week at 40.4 million bushels, mainly to unknown and Mexico, while old crop export sales for both commodities were a marketing year low.
