US Soybean Oil Imports Surge Amid Biofuel Demand Boom
The US has seen a significant increase in soybean oil imports, with 170 thousand tons imported since the start of the season, compared to 147 thousand tons for the same period last year.
This surge is largely due to growing demand for biofuels, which could reach 7.9 million tons in the 2026/27 crop year, exceeding 50% of total US soybean oil consumption for the first time.
The US remains a net importer of soybean oil due to domestic supply constraints and price premiums compared to world prices.
