Wall Street stocks continued their recent trend of mixed performances on Thursday, with major indices pulling back from record highs. The S&P 500 fell 13.59 points to 7,709.96, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 464.02 points to 53,885.10. The Nasdaq composite also declined, falling 15.09 points to 26,348.35.

The market's cautious tone was partly driven by rising oil prices, which added to inflationary pressures. Brent crude rose 3.8% to $82.49 as uncertainty persisted over the US-Iran conflict and its impact on global energy supplies.

Several companies reported earnings results that were mixed in their implications for investors. Warner Bros. Discovery saw a 1.7% increase after beating expectations, while Molson Coors rose 1.3% following encouraging financial results. However, Honeywell Aerospace fell 23.2% after turning in disappointing quarterly figures.

Clark Bellin, president and chief investment officer at Bellwether Wealth, noted that August is typically a volatile month for stocks, but added that the market is still on track to notch weekly gains.
