US Stocks Rise Amid Easing Oil Prices
The US stock market showed mixed results on Tuesday, with most stocks rising despite declines in AI-related chipmakers. The S&P 500 rose a modest 0.2%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1%. However, Nasdaq composite slipped 0.2% due to drops in tech companies.
Oil prices continued to ease, falling towards $82 per barrel, which helped pull Treasury yields lower in the bond market. The yield on the 10-year Treasury fell to 4.60% from 4.65% late Monday.
Coca-Cola and other companies reported stronger profits for the spring than analysts expected, contributing to the overall market rise. However, Micron Technology's stock dropped 8.4%, with Advanced Micro Devices down 7.4% and Applied Materials down 7.5%. These losses weighed on the S&P 500.
